Mark Ronson Is Sorry For Saying He’s Sapiosexual

There’s a good reason for why Mark Ronson looked like he had just shit his pants when he was on Good Morning Britain and one of the hosts basically pushed him out of the closet as a sapiosexual. Because he’s not really a sapiosexual, which means dum dums still have a shot!

In case you haven’t seen, it here’s the clip of that “coming out” moment:

Rolling Stone interviewed Mark Ronson and he explained what happened, claiming he was kind of confused and now feels bad that he claimed he was part of a marginalized community.

“I went on this English talk-show Good Morning Britain which has the kind of fast, tabloidy pace thing, and I went to sit down and talk about my album and things that I actually know about, and they’d previously aired a segment on sapiosexuality, and they were like: “Mark, how do you feel about sapiosexuality?” And I was like: “Well what is it?” “Well when you’re attracted to intelligence.” And I was like: “That sounds great, of course–who wouldn’t be?” …And they were like: “Oh that’s it everybody Mark Ronson identifies himself as sapiosexual, that’s great.” And I was like: “Oh… okay…” …So then I got back to the hotel two hours later and I saw this thing that said: “Mark Ronson Outs Himself As Sapiosexual”… And the fact that I would ever go on and sort of declare myself–as a heterosexual white male–a part of any marginalized community, was terrifying to me, or just embarrassing. But I didn’t really think much of it. I was like: “Oh everyone’s gonna watch this interview and realize that’s obviously not what I meant”, but that’s not what happens on Twitter anymore.”

Mark’s friend in the activist community suggested he talk about this confusion, and Mark wasn’t sure if he should comment, since he hadn’t thought he’d said anything incendiary or homophobic or something. But he decided he needed to because he really doesn’t want to be That Guy:

“I do not consider myself a part of any marginalized community and I apologize if anybody misunderstood or took offence to it.”

Well. people there you go, the guy who clearly was not coming out as sapiosexual was not coming out as sapiosexual and didn’t really know what sapiosexual means. So in other words, if you’re a sapiosexual, you probably wouldn’t be into Mark Ronson.
