Today is going to be a tough one for Chris Evans, because it looks like his “favorite human” Jenny Slate is off the market. It’s a good thing Chris Evans has all that Captain America money. He’s going to need to drop a couple dollars to repair the gate of his house after it’s knocked down by at least a thousand people volunteering to let him cry on their shoulder.
People is reporting that 37-year-old Jenny Slate, aka Mona-Lisa from Parks and Recreation, has announced that she is engaged to her 35-year-old boyfriend Ben Shattuck. If you’re a big fan of Hallmark Channel-style marriage proposals, then this will be right up your alley.
Jenny announced the news on Instagram with a romantic gallery of pictures of her future husband (who is an art curator that she’s been with for about 8 or 9 months). Ben popped the question during a romantic picnic in France at an abandoned castle.
“He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and i screamed YES. I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going.”
Ben also announced their engagement with an Instagram gallery that includes pictures of him kissing her on the street while they both clutch seasonal fir trees and branches, and both of them reading together on the couch under twinkling lights. I’m starting to think this proposal announcement was co-art directed by Bridget Jones and an Anthropologie assistant manager. He writes:
“In an abandoned castle in southern France, I asked this woman to marry me. Here she is in front of a door the color of her soul. In LA / MA / Holland / Belgium / France thank you @jennyslate and UP UP UP to more adventures.”
This will be Jenny’s second marriage. Jenny was married to Dean Fleischer-Camp for four years until May 2016, at which point she hooked up real fast with Chris Evans. Jenny was with Chris Evans for roughly two years, and called it quits in March 2018. I don’t know so much about Ben’s personal life, but he is a writer and works at his mom’s gallery in Massachusetts. So that’s nice? At the very least I know he seems to be good at planning. For example, he proposed to Jenny Slate in an abandoned castle in the south of France, and Jenny was so excited about that ring, she screamed. Jenny could take out eardrums in the north of France with that scream, so it was very kind of Ben to propose where the least auditory damage could be done.
This New Yorker story describes how an asteroid killed the dinosaurs in such mind-blowing detail I almost screamed like Jenny Slate looking at NASA's Instagram https://t.co/mINtBHtQUT pic.twitter.com/4Bk4InL3CK
