Kit Harington Is Currently In Rehab
For the past month, it seems you couldn’t open your eyes without someone going on about Game of Thrones, whether it be about how much they’ll miss it when it ends, or how much the creators of the show are fucking it up and that fans deserve a re-do. It was the most stressful end to a show since Tony Soprano ruined both onion rings and a Journey song for us. Kit Harington has reportedly been feeling the pressure over the end of Game of Thrones, because he’s checked himself into a rehab facility to deal with it, as well as some alcohol issues.
Kit’s rep confirmed the news to E! News with a statement, except they called it a “wellness retreat” and not rehab, and they didn’t get into details about why he’s there.
“Kit has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.”
32-year-old Kit hasn’t been seen in public since the GoT Season 8 premiere in Belfast, Ireland at the beginning of April. He’s reportedly been at a Connecticut “retreat” for about a month, and was there when the GoT finale aired on May 19th. Page Six says that he checked in to deal with alcohol issues and stress related to the end of GoT.
Multiple sources tell Page Six that the end of the show “really hit him hard,” with one source saying Kit kind of panicked when he realized it was all over and he wasn’t sure “what’s next.” He has reportedly been undergoing psychological coaching, mindful meditation, and doing cognitive behavioral therapy to deal with stress and negative emotions. The sources think that some of those negative emotions might stem from the GoT ending where – SPOILER ALERT – his character Jon Snow stabs Daenerys Targaryen to death. They might not be too far off the mark. In HBO’s special about the making of the final season, Jon got teary at the final episode table read when reading what his character does to his true love:

Sources also maintain that part of the reason Kit has spent a month in a luxury rehab/wellness retreat is because he’s getting help with an alcohol issue. In January 2018, TMZ reported that Kit was thrown out of a bar in NYC after allegedly getting drunk and making a mess of a pool table. Five months later, Kit married his GoT co-star Rose Leslie (Page Six’s sources say that Rose has visited Kit in rehab, and she’s supportive of his decision to be there). And five months after that, Kit’s alleged mistress shared some post-sex pics of him.
And that’s not to mention how Kit got so mad about all the people who hated the ending that he told them to go fuck themselves. But even without all of that, being Jon Snow alone is enough to chip away at your emotions; I mean, the guy spent eight years being called a bastard, and being told he “knows nothing.” Kit probably started every new season table read anxiously scanning the script for a line that read: “Jon Snow? More like Jon Blows, amirite?”
