Drew Barrymore Says Nevermore To Cocaine

If you see Drew Barrymore at a party getting tipsy on wine (she has her own brand and everything), by all means, toast to her continued good health and prosperity, but don’t ask her if she wants to go to the bathroom and do a couple of rails of cocaine. The mere thought of coke, is like, her worst nightmare now. Drew appeared on Norm McDonald Has A Show (how about Show Me A White Dude Who Doesn’t) and talked about her epic drug abuse which was chronicled in her 1990 masterpiece Little Girl Lost.

According to People, Norm asked Drew if she missed cocaine. Instead of being instantly triggered into relapse by the mere mention of the word, Drew merely shuttered and thanked her lucky stars that monkey is no longer on her back.

“No. Oh, God. It’s been a very long time, but no,” Barrymore said. “Nothing would make me have a panic attack and seem like a bigger nightmare.”

I can relate.  Sometimes if I’m at a bar or boring party, I think to myself “I could really use a bump of whatever because this is not fun and I’m tired”. But then I realize that I’d actually just rather be home watching House Hunters International. I’m never going to be at a party again that’s so great it’s going to change the fact that I’m no longer interested in staying up late, smoking cigarettes, and grinding my teeth until dawn. I’m with Drew; that sounds like a legitimate nightmare.

Drew may be off the hard drugs, but that doesn’t mean she’s hard edge. She still enjoys a tipple every now and again. But her nostrils are closed for business!

“I drink, I enjoy my life and get out of my own head,” she explained. “It’s not that I’m this militant person of clarity and presence but [cocaine] literally seems like my worst nightmare right now.”

Drew says she’s thankful she got her “shit over with” by the time she was 14. She’s still relatively young and has already had her midlife crisis, been institutionalized and had to learn to parent herself. Now she’s now able to kick back with glass of “Drew’s Blend” Pinot Noir and not worry about waking up three days later on a yacht next to Lindsay Lohan.
