Jocelyn Wildenstein Has Filed For Bankruptcy

According to Page Six, 77-year-old Jocelyn Wildenstein has filed for Chapter 11. Apparently Jocelyn’s cash situation is as unfortunate as her love life (I bet you thought I was going to say her face, didn’t you).

Jocelyn claims in her bankruptcy declaration that she’s got $0 in a Citibank account, and lives off a $900 a month Social Security check. She also claims that she’s often mooched off of family and friends to make ends meet.

She owes $25,000 in unpaid NYC property taxes, a $38,000 Chase Auto Finance payment for her 2006 Bentley (which is now worth $35,000), $700,000 to a storage company that was storing just $100,00 worth of property, $273,000 to at least three law firms, $175,000 to a contractor, and $165,000 to the owner of a bungalow in Beverly Hills that she rented.

But Jocelyn has a few big assets to her name. Like three adjoining apartments in Trump Tower worth $11.75 million. The only downside there is that she owes $4.6 million to the bank on her home, which is currently in foreclosure. She also lists a $1,000 wardrobe and a $100 television.

She claims to have $16.4 million in assets and $6.4 million in liabilities, and says she needed to file for bankruptcy to “reorganize” her situation.

Jocelyn says she’s owed money, though. In 1999, she divorced her billionaire art dealer husband, and reportedly walked away with $2.5 billion. She says all of that money is gone now, but she believes she’s still owed $4.5 million from her divorce.

Now it’s time for us to speculate where that money went. A few years ago, Jocelyn told The Mirror that she’s dropped $7 million on surgeries. She’s been known to run up $5000 a month phone bills. This also isn’t the first time she’s cried broke, although it is the first time she’s filed for Chapter 11.

This is all so frightfully tragic! Rich eccentrics need to have the rich part, otherwise they’re just poor weirdos like the rest of us. It’s only bound to get worse for Jocelyn too. I’m sure a lawyer (in the event she’s able to afford one) will advise her to sell everything. If that’s the case, then I hope there’s a free course at the Y that can teach her ass how to make the difficult transition from sitting in a Bentley to a public bus seat, otherwise I don’t know how she’s going to manage.
