John Cena And Nikki Bella Have Called Off Their Engagement
Sad news for fans of both rasslin’ and weddings. There will be no WWE Presents: Two Rings in the Ring marriage ceremony throw-down for John Cena and his professional wrestler fiancée Nikki Bella. John proposed to Nikki during WrestleMania 33 last April. A year later, a rep for the two of them confirmed to E! News that John and Nikki have decided to separate after six years together.
John and Nikki confirmed the news themselves by releasing a statement yesterday.
“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
They didn’t give a reason for their split. They could be saving the details for the third season of E!’s Total Bellas. But it might just be that John Cena and Nikki Bella were very busy people. John told UsWeekly last month:
“Relationships are hard. Don’t ever think that love is easy…We work every day on us…It takes being able to mesh two lives. I would never ever want Nicole to be in a position where she says, ‘I’m holding you back from doing this because I feel it’s wrong for us.’ And I would never say that to her. That’s why she’s super busy and sometimes we don’t see each other for months at a time, but when we do see each other, it’s our time together. I think, for now at least, that is certainly what’s making this work.”
John and Nikki were last seen together a week ago at WrestleMania 34. Last night he Instagrammed this pic, whereas Nikki simply Instagrammed their statement:
Obviously nothing about their split is official official until it makes its way into the WWE ring. They met in the ring, they got engaged in the ring – it’s only appropriate they address their split in the ring. But I don’t necessarily need a dramatic re-enactment of their break up featuring folding chairs and tap-outs. In fact, it might be more compelling to work their post-engagement lives into a story line. Like John and Nikki smacking down two heels named Jared and Kay who refuse to honor the return policy for Nikki’s engagement ring.
