A Mariah Carey Scripted Drama Is In The Works
Mimi is tired, y’all. She cannot be bothered to work up a sweat anymore! But she still needs money, because what is a queen without a castle, an aviary for her white doves, royal joooooles, a professional Spanx stuffer, leg insurance and a special little mini castle made just for wigs?
So rather than risk a potentially disastrous marriage to another billionaire, Mariah Carey is mining her past for a taste of that honied gold. Deadline reports that a television series based on your youth is in development for the Starz network.
The drama is set in 1986 New York City and chronicles the rise of an ambitious bi-racial 16-year-old girl, an aspiring singer-songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time.
Mariah must have watched The Crown on Netflix and been like, “who this broke-ass bitch? Lemme call somebody.” Mariah will executive produce the show, along with pal Brett Ratner. Mimi’s last television outing was the riveting E! docu-series, Mariah’s World. But still, I will watch the shit out of this. I don’t care what Mariah does or does not apply herself to fully, she is always doing the most.

Here’s the thing, Mariah has already given you so much. Mariah has lived 79 weeks of her life with a song sitting pretty at #1 on the Billboard charts. She has had 18 #1 records. At age 47 or 48, depending on who you ask, she has been nominated for THIRTY FOUR Grammys. You asked for GLAMOUR: she gave it to you. You asked for ELEGANZA: Mimi has delivered time and time again. You asked for GLITTER: well, ok, maybe nobody asked for that one, but Mimi gave it to you anyway, because that’s what she does; gives and she gives and she gives. So If my girl wants to take a knee and reap the rewards of a singularly spectacular career, I am here for it.
