I didn't breed the mastiff puppy, just FYI. We took in two 6 month old sisters and when we went to have them spayed one turned out to be carrying puppies. Most of the puppies died because they were so sickly. It was so sad. My mom kept their Mom and I was going to keep one puppy, out of the 4 survivors, and ended up with two of them! I really do miss having a Shepherd though, but I have my hands full trying to provide for two giant dogs and two horses. Lol.

Aww, that's really nice of you! I worked in assisted living after high school and I used to bring her in to visit the residents. She was so good natured. She also raised my two Mastiff puppies, since their Mom..still a puppy herself, rejected her puppies. I laughed as she would flip the mastiffs over and clean them..even when they outgrew her.

Mine has long hair. He is a sweetie. He loves his dog brother and cat sister, children and old folks.
In fact, there is a pet program that the Veteran's Home near me has that I am going to try to get involved in, where you bring you dog or cat in for the Veteran's so they can pet them and spend time with an animal. We have to go through some testing first, making sure my dog is safe to be around several people and is calm when pet. He needs to be obedient and sweet, which he is, so I for see no problems with getting into the program. It's a small way to say thank you to our Veteran's and give a little happiness.

Persians have what I call eye boogers. It's a normal drainage that can turn the hairz around teh eye a reddish-brown color. They've got to be cleaned daily or they will stain. If they are kept indoors (all Persians should be) and groomed well, they shouldn't haz the dirty look.

I have a pure white dog, and my dog looks like a ghost, he is so white. He's big, so he only gets a bath once a month by me and gets a pro grooming every 2 months. He's never had mouth stains or looked dirty, and believe it or not, he requires minimal maintenance to keep him clean.
That was my experience. My dog was mostly white, and he was WHITE white.

My issue with white cats is that they often look dirty. I'm not sure if it's because the dirt is more visible because of the lightness of the coat, or because the shade of white is really an off-white.
