And So It Begins....
The virtual Tupac that knocked the high out of many hos at Coachella was such a success for Dr. Dre and and Snoop Dogg that they're planning on taking it for a world tour. If this is Dr. Dre and Snoop's way of trying to lure the real Tupac out of his hiding place to smack both of them in their thinking places, I hope it works!
The Wall Street Journal reports Snoop and Dr. Dre are working out the details with Digital Domain Media Group, the pack of evil black magic-making witches who created Zombie Tupac. One of their ideas is to do a stadium tour where a bunch of rappers including 50 Cent and Eminem will perform next to Digital Ghost Tupac. The other idea is for Dr. Dre and Snoop to perform at smaller venues with S1m0ne Tupac. The CEO of Digital Domain told the WSJ that this is only the beginning and Dr. Dre has huge plans. Dude also said that they didn't use archival footage to create Tupac 2.0. They made him from scratch using a computer, a projector and a thin sheet of glass.
It is not okay that there's going to be a Hologram Tupac tour and yet there's never been a tour starring the only hologram we need: JEM! Can Digital Domain make me a giant hologram of a middle finger to throw at Dr. Dre for coming up with this dark-sidedness?
When I read that the CEO of Digital Domain promises that this is just the beginning, a virtual black cloud virtually covered me and I pictured a virtual Whitney Houston, a virtual Amy Winehouse, a virtual Michael Jackson and a virtual Tupac all performing a world tour together. They'll all virtually go to the virtual backstage afterward where they'll do virtual coke in between throwing virtual dollars at virtual strippers. I am virtually barfing. Why stop there, though? Why not make virtual people for everyone! Then us real-life people will never have to look at each other's faces. I can even have a virtual Prince Hot Ginge that will feed me virtual Zingers (zero virtual calories) as a virtual Sheamus fucks me in between the toes with his virtual peen. Wait. Stop. Hold it. Put a strike over everything except the last part and then tell me how many of my own internal organs I need to sell to make this happen!

Why is no one calling this a Hollah- gram?
Heehee Whamo, Joking about the 30's. But ITA, almost- happy songs get to me too, so don't mind them. Pretty much like most everything with the exception of -no offense- country and polka HAHAHA I have a song here and there but not exactly the biggest fan...although there are have been some great artists out there... Ahem, not a music snob... ;) Remember in High Fidelity, how the guys would deride everyone who came in the record store!??? LOL! Jack Black was a riot!!
OnT: still creepy but could have been worse: Acky Breaky... Except he's still alive hohoho ;p

:)
I actually love some stuff from the 30's, I love old black and white movies and they actually had some kick ass musicians back then.
I can't say I follow anything in particular but when I'm youtubing I'll throw some wacky old stuff on for a listen. As a "musician" I try to keep an open mind for damn near anything as long as it's not manufactured POP, God forbid absolutely soulless "new country"

and hear a song that I could understand.
I keep wishing it could be that way.
Because my world would be a Wonderland."
I'd like to see a virtual 'Dead at 27' tour. There'd be a lot of talent on that screen.

Why stop with dead artists? I'm sure Britney would rather stay home with her co-conservator/cheese grits than go on tour. Her "live" show and a hologram have a lot in common. You could finish a tour in one night, performing in 32 cities worldwide.

Whamo, but of course, that was implicit! Damn straight those bands are bangin' I always enjoy checking out suggestions, particularly stuff I haven't thought about in a while. But I draw the line at the 30's, musically, cinematically artistically and everything else, I found them uninspired. LOLOL Except for gone with the wind and the wizard of oz heheehhe kidding kidding! ;)

If Tupac really is dead, shouldn't his mother be able to sue or something? Or doe she back this fuckery to "honor her late son's memory?"

What is it about running from the cops and throwing bottles that is a rite of youth!
____________________________________________
No shit eh! There's a certain "us against them" thing going on for sure! It sure was FUN though wasn't it:) like you said we really did have some brilliant music back then, it was a great time to grow up for sure, I don't think I'd change a thing:)!
What is it about running from the cops and throwing bottles that is a rite of youth! That sounds like the time we went to go see fear in some shit hole... the police were just foaming at the mouth. I jumped a fence ran through some apartments down an alley and hit out at a Dennys. I thank my little leather jacket for saving my ass!
Teenage Head...we fucking DESROYED the bar they were playing at, full scale smash everything in sight. I whipped a beer bottle threw a massive 20 foot mirror the was behind the entire length of the bar. Every mirror in the bathroom got smashed, TVs got smashed, guys were ramming chairs through these stain glass panal things in the roof. I was high as a kite on shrooms to boot. The cops came in in waves grabbing everyone, I got snagged and put in a group of people ringed by cops. This one cop grabbed me and told the other cops he was taking me outside and HE LET ME GO out a side door on the way out. When I got outside guys were smashing on all the cops cars, it was INSANE!!!

Wow this makes me sad. Music today is such crap - pithy boy bands and bimbettes who have to be autotuned to hell and back. Fuck!

GG I flew out to California back in May of 83 and went to all three days of the US festival. When you have the chance check out the line up of bands. It was one of the absolute highlights of my youth. Anyone that was anyone played that festival.

Ok, skrew you all, Whamo and Gardening Girl*
I also adored Don Johnson, both in MV AND his music!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULI5kolBpAk
I will say to this day I love Depeche, their Songs of Faith and Devotion is utterly brilliant IMO. I've seen them in concert and I am also a Joy Division fan, a Chilli Pepper fan (from the late 80s) and my all-time fav is Queen. I have every album including Roger Taylor's solo efforts! I love the band Live too. Throwing Copper is in my Top 10 of all time.
But yes, I loved all that fluff pop too. I was perpetually in love with all of the 80s guys, and yet the most virginal girl out there. I was fun as hell to hang out with though. But I hung out, I didn't put out. Unlike some obvious whores around here*.

(ok, you were more 70s and I was more 80s) but still -
I know you also loved Spandau Ballet, Duran, Culture Club, Nik Kershaw, Ultravox, MJ, Madonna, Heaven 17, Breakfast Club (the band) and so many more.

Actually the 80 were totally my time, I was too young for the 70s. I love psychedelic furs, depeche mode(sp) Talking Heads, B52s, Oingo Boingo(sp) Sex Pistols, The Dead Kennedys, Gary Numan, XTC, tons of one hit wonder new wave and one of my very favorites Joy Division.
Bronski Beat Indeed!!! :):):)
All that's my youth for sure!
Tell me whyyyyy:)
Add DOA, Teenage Head, Missing Persons, I could go on and on
Whamo, my goodness!
Whamo!........... Wham! Obviously a huge shout out to George and Andrew!
You loved them too and you are too embarrassed to admit it! A continent away and so much in common (ok, you were more 70s and I was more 80s) but still - so many connections! It's total love, unlike what that runt wants from you.

It's ok, you don't have to be cool with me.
For you, from me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7-q1WRaKNg
Actually a great band. I met them in Paris when I was 17, they headed to an Irish pub after a sell out concert and they were really nice to me.

ha! I keep checking that site on the hour. You know this is some illuminati shit, and it's funny that they did it to Tupac of all people.
My prediction is... Right now most people overestimate what this thing can do. It is not a hologram. It's a tricky movie screen. I think that the IDEA of this Tupac nonsense is getting a lot of attention but I imagine that when you see it and realize it's limitations, it's not going to be any more exciting than a 3-d movie. I can't imagine people paying concert prices to basically watch a movie.
http://burning-plastic.tumblr.com/
I just want them to do a Kurt Cobain one so I can watch YT video of Courtney running on stage and screaming "I killed you! I killed you!"
This is some seriously darksided shit. It looks like celebrities will have to put something in the will that prevents relatives from licensing their image for zombie performances.

Between 78-85 there was some incredibly awesome music being made. Another fav album was Gary Numan's Pleasure Principle, the tune Cars was IMO ok (way overplayed) but the rest of that album was killer. I played the grooves off that one as well.

Lol, man that sucks, do you still wince when you hear them:)
Holy Shit! Niggas gonna die every night of this concert! You now all them together in a stadium or even a small club will have one death Minimum!
Sigh...I know what's going to happen...when they make this into some Elvis fuckery I'll have to take my mother to it. The question is if you throw some granny panties at it does it screw it up?
I was wondering when someone was going to mention Elvis. I can imagine Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston, EVERYBODY. Performers will eventually start designing their holograms before they die. New business!
