Beyonce Was Missing From The CMA Website Because She Wanted It That Way
I’m sure that as Beyonce walked off stage after performing Daddy Lessons with the Dixie Chicks at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, she expected the President of Country Music, Twang McHey-Y’all, would appear in a cloud of hickory smoke and crown her the Queen of Country. That’s not what happened.
What did happen was that some country fans ripped the CMA for letting a non-country artist like Beyonce hijack their precious awards show. Some country music fans came for Beyonce in a way that…well, let’s just say some of the tweets would get you fired from a normal job but promoted if you worked for a company that endorsed Donald Trump. It got racist. Not long after Beyonce got all that hate, a promo clip of her performance mysteriously disappeared from the CMA website along with all mentions of her from their social media. Some people, like TMZ, accused the CMA of catering to racist trolls. The CMA released a statement denying that and said mentions of Beyonce were taken down because they didn’t get the proper approval. The CMA elaborated to the New York Times (via People).
Sarah Trahern, the head honcho of the Country Music Association, said that Beyonce’s performance was pulled from their website because Beyonce asked them to. Sarah stressed that Beyonce’s performance with the Dixie Chicks was a “highlight” of the night and they weren’t trying to erase anything. She then attempted to slip some verbal Valium to the Beyhive by adding this:
“Beyonce’s team hadn’t approved that, so we pulled it down. Fans can get kind of passionate and read other things into it.”
Sarah claimed that Beyonce only approved the video of the actual live performance with the Dixie Chicks. That video is currently up on their their website. The CMA tried to backpedal a bit by reposting a pre-performance picture from Beyonce on Instagram yesterday, which of course the Beyhive has rubbed their stingers all over.

Sarah added more evidence of Beyonce’s crazy image-control powers by saying she wanted approval over everything that night. Sarah says Beyonce even brought her own photographer and the only non-performance pictures of her are on Instagram.

Beyonce also released a 7-minute video for Daddy Lessons on Tidal yesterday, and it’s pretty much the same video you saw if you watched the Daddy Lessons part of Lemonade on HBO. I’m surprised Beyonce didn’t take the opportunity to hiss back at her country music haters by skipping Tidal and releasing the video as a QR code on the back of a Cracker Barrel menu. You can’t escape her, Countryoncé is everywhere!
