Elizabeth Olsen Tells Actors Who Want To Join Marvel To Just Do One Movie

Before Marvel’s introduction of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, some who never saw Martha Marcy May Marlene didn’t even know there were more Olsens out there! But in the past eight years, Elizabeth managed to survive three Avengers movies, a Captain America flick, her own television series Wanda Vision, and one Multiverse Of Madness. And apparently, if she knew then what she knows now, she’d probably just collect one Marvel check and GTFO.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz– Josh asked Elizabeth if actors thinking about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever ask her, “What am I ever getting myself into?” And the Scarlet Witch got candid about managing a career within the MCU, which over the past few years has taken the route of quantity over quality, shitting out as many movies as they can with scripts that look written by whoever gave the lowest price on Fiverr. Her response to these bright-eyed actors? “Just give them one,” she said. via Entertainment Weekly:

The actress, who has starred as the indomitable Wanda Maximoff for the past eight year, says she’s had “some people” reach out to her about jumping into the franchise. In response, she’s offered some words of wisdom: “Just give them one.”

Yes, as in sign on for only a single project. But! Before anyone panics, Olsen has a solid reason for why that’s a good idea.

“I think that way you have more control over… If you, let’s say, ‘Oh my God, this is the most fun I’ve ever had and I love this character so much, I want to do it again,’ you now have more creative control for the next one,” she explained on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Here’s a clip from the conversation:

And she also talked about how the script for Multiverse of Madness changed so much that she just stopped reading the drafts:

I’m not exactly sure how you’d have a universe of heroes if everyone just popped in for one movie, but it wouldn’t hurt Disney to slow down the speed setting on the Marvel conveyer belt. The most recent Marvel flunk was the Paul Rudd starring sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was one of the worst-reviewed MCU films on Rotten Tomatoes with a low score of 48%. Clearly, Paul would’ve probably been better off if he’d just paid a visit to Elizabeth Olsen. But even if Marvel agreed to sign an actor for just one movie, that contract would still be forever since every Marvel actor probably has to sign their name in blood!
