Terrence Howard Is Retiring From Acting…Again

When I checked my calendar this morning, I could have sworn it was still 2022, but time must have shifted and we are now back in 2019. Because Terrence Howard has once again revealed he is retiring from acting and in the words of Sunshine Anderson, “I’ve heard it all beforrrrreeee!” But this time, it’s probably for real. And at the premiere of The Best Man: The Final Chapters, he broke the hearts of no one by pretending he’s no longer going to be mesmerizing audiences with his green-eyed monster gaze.

Complex reports the man formally known as Lucious Lyon ain’t lying this time when he says he’s done with acting for good. The last time Terry announced that he was done with acting, he said that he was going to retire from Hollywood to “build the planet Saturn without gravity and build the Milky Way galaxy without gravity.” That was two years ago, and as far as anyone knows, Huggies Baby Wipes’ answer to Elon Musk did not fulfill his dream of building a gravity-less Saturn. But he may do it now that he has the time since he says he’s quitting acting AGAIN.

“This is the end for me. I don’t know if it’s the end for the rest of them,” he said. “I retired two years ago, for the most part. I was done. … I asked Sidney Poitier 10 years ago, does he want to do any more work, and he said, ‘Why would I spend my last 10 years doing an impersonation of myself?’ And that’s what I’ve gotten to.”

Oh, Terrence. That conversation was Sidney’s polite way of saying, “Yeah, you need to stop acting now, my guy.” And once again, this is kind of what he does because he’s like that one person on Facebook back in the day who always said, “I’m deleting my page!” BYE! We didn’t need those announcements then, and we really don’t need this one, either. Especially since back in 2019, he said he was ready to hand the baton over to the next generation of actors.

“I’ve gotten to the point where now I’ve given the very best that I have as an actor,” Howard continued before praising the younger generation of talent. “Now I’m enjoying watching other new talent come around, and I don’t want to do an impersonation of myself. … Yes, there’s some better actors out there that can do things that I was never able to do. So I want to applaud them, I want to be excited about what they do.”

It’s been fun Terrence, but I think we’ll be fine after you really retire. But I know you’ll be back. Just make sure when you do return, you have enough money to pay your damn taxes. And honestly, the excessive amount of money he spends on baby wipes will probably be the reason he returns to acting because he’ll go broke without a steady paycheck.
