Open Post: Hosted By The Giant Inflatable Duck On The Loose
It’s Halloween weekend, and while we’re keeping vigilant for news reports about masked monsters with machetes on the loose killing sexy teens, we’ve overlooked another beast who’s broken free and is terrorizing local bodies of water: the giant rubber ducky of Maine! The giant duck was moored in the Belfast Harbor, but thanks to high winds, he’s been set free and is roaming the harbor. For anyone suffering from anatidaephobia, make sure to steer clear of the waters of Belfast!
This rubber ducky has been seen before and is a mystery to locals. Last year, he appeared in the Belfast Harbor with the threatening word “joy” written across its chest. He returned this year with an even more ominous message of “greater joy.” Yet despite being a menacing 20 feet high, people seem to like and welcome their inflatable overlord. It looks like the duck is spreading the good word further since becoming unmoored. via UPI:
An official with the Belfast Harbor Office confirmed the inflatable duck broke free of its moorings amid high winds around noon Thursday and started floating out of the harbor.
“We actually went out and grabbed it with the boat, but the lines all broke on it,” the harbor official told WCSH-TV. “It was just way too windy. We couldn’t pull it back in.”
As of Friday, the duck was seen about 20 miles to the coast of Blue Hill, Maine. Here he is on his rampage.
We were all duped by his tidings of peace and love. Now that he’s on the loose, who knows what this duck’s plan is? Where will he strike next?! Watch out the next time you’re dog paddling in the local swimmin’ hole. The duck and his message of joy may be coming for you!
