Fax Machine Fox!

Pawsitive Beginnings is a non-profit fox sanctuary in Key Largo, FL that gives a loving home to foxes who have been saved from being killed and turned into coats. Since foxes used for fur are raised in captivity, they can’t be released into the wild, so Pawsitive Beginnings cares for them until the end of their days. One of their rescues has turned out to be a highly-skilled sound effects artiste. So basically, the fox is the reincarnation of Jack Foley! But this Foley artist fox can only do one sound. Don’t people say that you shouldn’t try to be good at many things and instead put all your focus into being really, really good at one thing? Well, this fox is the master of that!

Pawsitive Beginnings put together a video on what they do for foxes and it includes an adorable profile of one of its most talented foxes! 1-year-old Reef has been living at the sanctuary since May 2021 after he, his mom, and siblings were rescued from a fur farm. Reef was brought to Pawisitive Beginnings by himself since his mom and siblings rejected him. via PB:

Reef was born on a fur farm on or around March 28, 2021. He was able to be rescued when his mother and siblings started to reject him. Reef is missing toes on his front, right paw and the tip of his tail is missing due to injuries sustained in his short time on the fur farm. Reef arrived to us on May 6, 2021 and lives with Coral, Jasper and Penny here at the sanctuary.

I hope Reef’s mom and siblings didn’t reject him over his foxy fax sounds. That’s the sound of Dolly Parton and Aretha Franklin’s favorite communication device of choice! Yes, it’s a triggering sound for some of us who worked in an office back in the day, but it’s also a holy one since it’s Dolly and Aretha approved! Here’s Reef sharing his gift of sounding like a fax machine, and he does, but sometimes he sounds like a wooden door begging to be lubed up with some WD-40:

Reef’s fax machine sounds take me back to when I’d stand in front of one of those dreadful nerve-destroying machines for what felt like 100 years, waiting for my fax to go through, only for it to fail as I silently screamed for mercy. But if fax machines looked as adorable as Reef does while making those sounds, I’d awwwwwwwwww at it…..before going back to being annoyed.
