Shia LaBeouf has long been known as an upstanding citizen who values integrity above everything (read: the complete opposite of that), so it will come as a complete shock to hear that Shia admitted to blatantly lying about being abused by his father as a kid. Honey Boy is the 2019 semi-autobiographical movie about Shia’s childhood where Shia plays his own dad, and it paints his father as an abuser. Shia claimed that he wrote the movie as a therapy exercise, but it turns out it was more of a creative writing exercise on how to be more of a sociopath. Because while on Jon Bernthal’s podcast (WHY, JON, WHY?), Shia said that his father never abused or even spanked him and he made it up to position himself as a “wounded, fractured child that you could root for.” Shia went on to say that he “vilified” a man who was only loving to him. Okay, but Shia’s father was convicted of attempted rape of a minor in 1981, he was reportedly accused of sexual harassment on the set of his son’s show Even Stevens, and he fled the US in 2014 after getting into trouble for not registering as a sex offender. So yeah, I’m not sure if Shia LaDouche totally vilified his dad, because I’m pretty sure that the vilifying came from inside the house – Pajiba
In non-asshole actor news, Ellen Burstyn says that for years, she turned down Excoricst sequels, but she finally said yes to one after producers threw a ton of money at her and eventually agreed to fund a scholarship program for young actors. Here’s to Ellen for keeping it real instead of saying, “You know, the script just elevated the character and story to another level and it really spoke to me.” – IndieWire
During her show in DC, yodeling nymph Lorde decided to tell a charming tale to the locals about how she went swimming in the Potomac. SUCIO! The poor audience members probably had a hard time watching the rest of the show after their skin crawled off of their bodies from thinking about swimming in the Potomac! – Jezebel
