Treasure Rocks!

The British Crown Jewels are estimated to be worth billions of dollars, but in the late-90s, the British Monarchy didn’t have shit on any kid who owned an opulent jewelry box filled with priceless Treasure Rock jewels. Like the Easy Bake Oven, Creepy Crawlers, and Dollymaker Boutique, Treasure Rocks was a craft set that let kids make gorgeous treasures. When a kid first opened up their Treasure Rocks kit, they found a box of just regular rocks. But thanks to the ~*MaGiCAl*` powers of water, those basic bitch rocks were transformed into an extravagant collection of sparkling jewels. Jewels that were so sparkly and extravagant that they could easily be mistaken for Liberace’s kidney stones. Yes, they were THAT opulent.

Ghost of the Doll says that Hasbro produced Treasure Rocks from 1993 to 1995. There wasn’t just one kind of Treasure Rocks set, there were several. Hasbro gave you variety! There was a princess-themed set, a bridal-themed set, a Wild West-themed set, and many more. Treasure Rocks came as just an ordinary pile of rocks but when you dropped a rock into the Treasure Rocks’ “magic revealer” (aka a jewel-shaped plastic bottle filled with water), it shed its ordinary rock shell and transformed into a glittery jewel that probably made the other kids on the playground faint from the sight of such opulence!

As for the mind-blowing wizardry used to turn rocks into jewels, TheGamer says (SPOILER ALERT) that the plastic jewels were covered in a baking soda-type powder that was molded and dyed to look like rocks. So basically, parents who bought their kid a Treasure Rocks set were buying them rocks of dyed white powder. Hmmm, the perfect drug hider! Why do I have a feeling that in the 90s, TSA agents saw lots of boxes of “Treasure Rocks,” and the drug sniffing went crazy for them. Those dogs were obviously going crazy for the extreme luxury of Treasure Rocks!
