Bob and Quello, the other Cinnamon Toast Crunch bakers!

For years, there was just one Cinnamon Toast Crunch baker, a sweet pepaw with glasses named Wendell. But before Wendell was the solo face of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, there was a trio of mascots. You may already know this after watching a particularly riveting episode about this on Vh1’s Behind The Cereal (a show that I wish existed), but the original mascots were Wendell, Bob, and Quello. But then Wendell pulled a Beyonce and went solo (just call him Wendellyonce), and we never heard from Bob and Quello again!

The Cinnamon Toast Crunch trio of bakers made their debut sometime in the 1980s, and together they tried to sell America on the shameless scam that Cinnamon Toast Crunch was really baked at home with love by three jolly cartoon chefs instead of churned out in a factory somewhere. In this commercial, Wendell, Bob, and Quello whip up some Cinnamon Toast Crunch for a mom, and the commercial ends with them serenading her with the Cinnamon Toast Crunch jingle!

And here’s a similar commercial, also from the 1980s:

In the 1980s, Wendell, Bob, and Quello were up there with Exposé and Banarama as extremely important trios. But something happened and by the early-90s, Wendell was the lone CTC baker, and Bob and Quello were gone without any explanation given. How cold and wrong of Cinnamon Toast Crunch to bring two good male role models into our homes only to rip them away without telling us why. No wonder I have daddy issues!

Wendell stuck around until 2017. But what happened to Bob and Quello? Were they creeps behind the scenes and got dropped because of sexual harassment allegations? Did they get papped eating and enjoying bowls of Rice Krispies? Did that shady trick Wendell secretly record Bob and Quello talking trash about CTC and gave the tapes to executives in hopes that they’d get shit-canned and then he’d be the lone star?! It’s probably the third one, but when a blogger wrote General Mills to ask what happened to the other two CTC bakers, they were vague and wouldn’t even say Bob and Quello’s names! ICE. COLD.

Hello Valued Consumer:

Thank you for contacting General Mills with your inquiry.
Wendell was the only baker that was named, and due to consumer feedback, we chose to feature him as the “Cinnamon Toast Baker” where he has remained in this title role since 1991.

We hope you find this information helpful. Please let us know if we can help you again.

So we may never know why Bob and Quello got the boot, but if you ever see them, ask them! They’ll be the messy ones in the cereal section of your grocery store who are drunkenly holding court while saying, “We used to rule this aisle back in our day! We used to be STAHS!
