Open Post: Hosted By The People Trapped On The It’s A Small World Ride

Torture is defined by Webster’s dictionary as “something that causes agony or pain” and “anguish of body or mind.” Depending on your tolerance level, hearing something over and over again COULD be considered a form of torture. But if that song is Disney’s It’s a Small World, then it is DEFINITELY considered torture! A group of tourists experienced their own version of hell at Disney’s Magic Kingdom when the It’s a Small World ride got stuck. They were trapped for a full hour, listening to the theme on loop and watching animatronic puppets jerkily dance in place.

It’s not clear why the ride malfunctioned. Maybe the CIA is testing out something new in partnership with Disney? What we do know is that these poor families spent an hour of their vacation with singing puppets. As detailed by Yahoo!:

The iconic Magic Kingdom ride opened in 1971 and has guests sitting in boats as animatronic children sing on a loop.

In this case, the ride appears to have malfunctioned. TikTok user @hazeysmom22 filmed how the boat in front of hers appeared to be sinking on one side.

“This boat said it was NOT a small world…” she captioned the clip. “We were stuck for over an hour, the torture.”

If you have an aversion to the song, don’t worry. The video doesn’t play it.

You can see in the video that one of the boats is partially sinking. While the Disney staff were present to suss out what the problem was, they never shut off the music. It’s a miracle that someone didn’t snap and take the whole boat down with them after an hour! The riders were eventually released and left the park physically unharmed but mentally scarred. I guess Disney’s slogan “Where Dreams Come True” is correct. A nightmare is a kind of dream, after all!
