Open Post: Hosted By Tom Hanks Cursing Out Fans Who Shoved Rita Wilson

Tom Hanks is America’s Dad: kind, goofy, unpretentious, and warm. But, as some fans discovered last night in New York City, even daddy has his limit. Tom and his wife Rita Wilson, both 65, were heading to their car from a restaurant when they were swarmed by a bunch of fans who got all up in the couple’s personal space. TMZ says that one of the fans accidentally shoved Rita, who almost fell, but caught her balance. A rattled Rita put up her hands and emphatically said, “Stop it!” Tom was pissed. He yelled, “My wife?! Back the fuck off! Knocking over my wife!” Then he gave fans a death stare, turned around, and followed Rita into their SUV. It’s… the sexiest he’s ever been. And I’m counting all two seasons of Bosom Buddies.

My favorite part about this clip is that the guy in the black Lakers hat is the one who runs into Rita because he wasn’t watching where he was going (even though another selfie-taking fan bumped into him). But when Tom screams at the crowd, the Lakers hat guy acts like everyone else is the problem: “What are you doin’? What are y’all doin’?” “Yeah, they’re buggin! Sorry about that Tom… these people!” A master class in passing the buck. Well done, sir!

Tom and Rita were grabbing dinner after attending a screening of Elvis earlier in the evening. Tom plays Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis’ infamous manager. Colonel Tom was known for being a dirty, rotten scoundrel, and my theory is that some of that “bad guy” energy leaked its way into Tom Hanks’ bloodstream via all those facial prosthetics. Cuz normally Tom would give those hooligan-fans nothing more than a stern daddy talking-to, but post-Colonel Tom went off! Or has Tom Hanks always been a yeller? And that’s why Chet Hanks is the way he is? Only Chet’s therapist knows for sure…
