Good Humor’s Toasted Almond Ice Cream Bars!
It’s been a long, long time since I’ve paid a visit to an ice cream truck, and not because I was banned from all of them for pushing children out of the way so that I can order first (it was only that one time, okay!). So I have no idea if the mobile ice cream purveyors of today still sell Toasted Almond ice cream bars from Good Humor. But if they do, those bars are probably every kind of freezer burnt because they’re probably the same bars we all passed on as kids back in the day!
Good Humor’s Toasted Almond ice cream bar is kind of the Poor Michelle of Good Humor’s lineup. I mean, it has to compete with the Chocolate Eclair bar and the Strawberry Shortcake bar, which is, I’m guessing, what the peens of angels taste like in the heavens. Good Humor’s Toasted Almond ice cream bar is made up of a cake and almond-flavored center that’s surrounded by vanilla ice cream and covered in a shell of toasted almond pieces.
The Toasted Almond bar is for a more sophisticated palate, which may be why it can be hard to find in grocery stores. It’s truly the rare and unique jewel of the Good Humor empire.
Since I’m older now and trying to live a healthier lifestyle (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!), I’d seriously look at the Toasted Almond bar while looking at my choices at the ice cream truck. “Almonds are protein and rich in fiber, but then again strawberry is a fruit” is what I’d say before skipping the Toasted Almond ice cream bar and ordering a few Strawberry Shortcake bars. Listen, the fact that I’d even considered eating a Toasted Almond bar means that I have fully evolved!
