The Wicked movie, which will star Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, will be split into two parts. The first part will come out on Christmas Day 2024 and the second part will come out on Christmas Day 2025. Director Jon M. Chu claims that they made the decision to release two Wicked movies to avoid cutting songs and other shit from the show (FYI: the stage show’s running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes with one intermission). That’s a very interesting way to say “Because we want to make as much money as possible!” So it looks like you now have two chances for your ears to shrivel up and fall off from listening to movie theater audiences let out a pitchy warble while loudly singing along to Defying Gravity and For Good in between popcorn-eating – Just Jared
