Ari Groover, the actress whose wig quit at the end of a performance of Tina on Broadway, and she went on with the show!

Ari Groover currently plays the role of Alline in the Tina Turner biopic musical Tina on Broadway, and she also covers the title role. And on Saturday, she Proud Mary danced into the role of Tina and during the show’s curtain call, she was giving so much that her wig couldn’t handle it and dropped off her head in exhaustion and hit the floor. But Ari quickly asked herself, “What would Tina do?!”, and the answer was obviously: keep on, keep on!

Tina: The Tina Turner musical originally opened on Broadway on November 7, 2019, but on March 20, 2020, they had to press pause on performances after COVID-19 came along. The show re-opened on October 8, 2021, and so it’s back and better than ever (see: Ari Groover grooving her wig off for the people!). Ari Groover took over the role of Tina from Nkeki Obi-Melekwe during a performance on Saturday, and writer Ryan McPhee was in the audience. Ryan was recording a video of the curtain call performance of Proud Mary when Ari brought it so hard that her wig was like, “I didn’t take enough Dramamine for this hot and bumpy ride,” and checked out. When Ari’s Tina wig exited her head, she picked it up off the floor, tossed it out of her way, and went on with the show. After the clip went viral, Ari took her bow on Twitter and laughed about it:
