Ameca, the terrifyingly creepy android who shut down a human trying to pick her up!

If you’re like me and are getting bored with humans rejecting you when you message them on dating apps, I have good news for you. You can now get rejected by robots too! Exciting! Ameca is a nightmare-inducing, human-like robot that you may think was co-created by Elon Musk and Satan. But Ameca was created by the engineers at a UK-based company called Engineered Arts (more like Enginereered Dark Arts). And at this year’s CES trade show, which happened in Las Vegas earlier this month, she shut up a human dude trying to flirt with her robot ass.

Will Jackson, the founder of Engineered Arts, says that Vicki The Robot’s terrifying child has been in the making for the past 15 years. They wanted to make a Westworld-without-the-skin-like robot that can interact with humans. Um, we already have a terrifying robot that interacts with humans. His name is Ryan Seacrest. via Futurism:

“The reason for making a robot that looks like a person is to interact with people. The human face is a very high bandwidth communication tool, and that’s why we built these expressive robots,” Engineered Arts founder Will Jackson told Reuters.

He added: “We’ve tried to be gender-neutral, race neutral. We’re just trying to make something that has the basic human characteristics — expression — without putting anything else on top of that. So, hence the grey faces. It’s really been 15 years in gestation.”

And here’s a man at CES asking Ameca if she’s got a boyfriend, and after she says that she’s not on the market and that robots do not have relations, she asks him if he’s got a boyfriend.

If I wasn’t already ice cold inside, she would’ve frozen me with her soul-destroying glare at the end. And that’s a face we’ll all probably get to see in person as Ameca and her fellow robots put us all in shackles during the robot takeover.
