Jennifer Hough Drops Her Lawsuit Against Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is one lucky mess. Not only did she avoid a $20 million judgment in the harassment suit against her, but now her name has been dropped from the lawsuit. Last August, Jennifer Hough sued Nicki and Nicki’s husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty claiming they were harassing and intimidating her to change her story about Kenneth raping her at knifepoint in 1995. Kenneth eventually pleaded guilty to attempted rape and spent four years in prison. Jennifer did not drop her lawsuit against Kenneth, so he’s still stuck holding the bag. But let’s be honest, if he has to pay it’s going to be with Nicki’s money anyway.

Jennifer’s lawsuit claims that Nicki and her husband were harassing her and offering her money to recant her allegations against Kenneth. Nicki has denied such things–including allegations she was in a gang–but did admit to having an associate of hers named “Black” reach out to Jennifer for a conversation. Nicki claims that during that conversation, Jennifer tried to shake Nicki down for money.

Now, Nicki’s lawyer is doing a victory lap and I think it’s a bit premature since Kenneth is still under the legal microscope. So maybe Team Nicki should dial the self-righteousness down a few notches. Also, her lawyer seems to suggest he’ll be coming after Jennifer for Nicki’s legal expenses. via TMZ:

According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the lawsuit against Nicki was voluntarily dismissed Wednesday by Jennifer Hough. A source close to the case tells us there was not any sort of financial settlement reached to make it go away. Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, remains a defendant.

In a blistering response, Nicki’s attorney, Judd Burstein, tells TMZ Jennifer and her lawyers thought they could shake Nicki down for some easy money, trying to financially settle it from the beginning. We’ve seen an email Burstein sent to Hough’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, which reads, in part, “In my view, your conduct in pursuing this case against Nicki represents the worst of our legal system: bottom-feeding lawyers who pursue frivolous actions against a celebrity assuming that they will be paid off if they throw enough dirt.”

Judd continues, “You forced my client to spend over $300,000 in fees to defend a case which even my Labradoodle, Gracie, could see was frivolous on both the facts and the law.”

Well, I think we should ask Gracie the Labradoodle what she thinks about this–because I think she won’t be impressed with Nicki’s side of things either.
