Sinead O’Connor’s 17-Year-Old Son, Shane, Has Died After Going Missing

January 8, 2022 / Posted by:

This is not the first Sinead O’Connor news of 2022 that anybody wanted. Correction: This is not the Sinead O’Connor news we want to hear ever. Sinead O’Connor’s 17-year-old son Shane O’Connor went missing in Dublin on January 6 and she heartbreakingly pleaded with him on Twitter to not harm himself and to contact the authorities so that they can get him help. Yesterday, Sinead announced that the worst outcome has happened and Shane died by suicide.

The Gardai, aka the state police In Ireland, confirmed to the Irish Independent yesterday that they found Shane dead in the Bray area of Wicklow. Sinead paid tribute to Shane on Twitter:

Shane O’Connor was Sinead’s second youngest child out of four. His father was Irish folk musician Dónal Lunny.

After Sinead delivered the tragic news of her unimaginable loss, she went off on Ireland’s Child and Family agency Tusla for not contacting her about the death of Shane. Sinead later tweeted that Tusla eventually did contact her to talk about a “media release” and she believes they’re trying to cover their asses. On the day that Shane was reported missing, Sinead tweeted that he was on suicide watch at Tallaght University Hospital’s Lynn Ward and she says they just let him walk out of the hospital even though he had attempted suicide twice a week before.

Sinead says that when she’s ready to call out the evil ways of the Irish State, she will and to not believe any statements of sympathy they release:

Sinead has been very open about her struggles with mental health and the times she’s been in a dark place. So hopefully she’s surrounded with love and support. And Tusla better brace themselves, because we all know that Sinead is really not that one.

May Shane O’Connor rest in peace.
