Open Post: Hosted By Jamie Dornan Taking “Issue” With Us Mocking “50 Shades Of Grey”

Jamie Dornan starred as Christian Grey in all three Fifty Shades of Shit movies: 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey, 2017’s Fifty Shades Darker, and 2018’s Fifty Shades Freed. But don’t you dare slander the movie! Jamie is tired of people discrediting him because he was in a porn book-turned-big budget movie and he “takes issue” with us treating it like it’s a joke. Yeah, this Twilight-porn fan-fiction is NOT a laughing matter! E.L. James almost won a Pulitzer! (No she didn’t.)

Jamie has been in a lot of movies, but he can’t shake that stank of the Red Room of Pain, which makes sense since that place must be caked with bodily fluids. But Jamie tells British GQ that he’s fine with being associated with 50 Shades, he just wished we took it more seriously. via New York Post:

“Look, put it this way: It’s done no harm to my career to be part of a movie franchise that has made more than $1 billion. Every working actor would say the same thing. It’s provided–a lot. There’s no shame in saying it’s transformed my life and my family’s life financially. I am very, very grateful for this and always will be… And the fans loved it. Kevin Maher [the film critic] at The Times didn’t love it–what a surprise! But I take issue with the whole thing being just a bit of a joke. Everyone involved worked as hard as they could on those films, including myself.”

After starring in the trilogy, Dornan admitted that he felt a tremendous amount of pressure to prove his acting abilities. “Whether A Private War, Anthropoid or Belfast, or whatever comes next, the line in the press is always, “It’s the best thing he’s done since Fifty Shades.” As if I am still needing to prove myself. I am still paying penance for that choice to get me back to where I was beforehand… Look, I get it, and to be honest with you, it spurs me on. It lights a fire in me. If that means people saying, “Oh, actually he’s not that bad,” well, so be it.”

Jamie may not be able to escape whipping Dakota Johnson in some sad excuse for a BDSM movie, but he should be more worried about the emotional pain he caused people doing that Imagine video he did at the beginning of the pandemic. Just wait until the movie reviews say: “It’s the worst thing he’s done since singing Imagine on his toilet.”
