Hot Slut Of The Day!
Sheena Easton’s hard-working “baby” in the video for Morning Train (9 to 5)!
On this day of celebrating the worker, let’s pay tribute to Sheena Easton’s baby who takes the morning train and works 9 to 5 before taking the train home to her. If you listen to the song, you might think that Sheena Easton’s baby is some kind of office worker who commutes on the train every single day, but the video threw a PLOT TWIST at us. Because it turns out that Sheena Easton’s baby works ON the train! M. Night Shyamalan is still shaking over that revelation.
My favorite Sheena Easton songs will always be the anti-sexism anthem Strut and the horny musical ode to high sucrose coochies, Sugar Walls, but her biggest hit is the easy listening diddy 9 to 5. I went through most of my life thinking that its official title was Morning Train. But it’s 9 to 5, although, it was released in North America as Morning Train (9 to 5) since Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 (aka the song most of us think of when we think of 9 to 5) had recently come out.
Sheena Easton’s 9 to 5 was written by Florrie Palmer and was released in the UK in 1980 and in North America in 1981. It hit #1 on the charts in several countries including Australia, Canada, and the U.S. The song is about a woman who’s waiting for her 9-to-5-working baby to come home to her. But they decided to switch shit up for the video because it starts with Sheena riding her bike to the train station, and when she gets there we find out that her baby is (SPOILER ALERT) actually working on the train. He’s a jack of all train trades because it looks like he’s the conductor AND the coffee server. Dude IS the morning train. But he’s got Sheena there to cheer him on with her shoulder bops and she sometimes even helps him do his job (see: Sheena pulling some train levers or some shit and cleaning the hell out of that train while singing). But mostly, she just gets her cardio in with those shoulder bops.
In 1996, an unofficial reboot of the Morning Train video came out when an episode of Seinfeld used the song during a montage of moments from Kramer working a “regular job.”
I need a follow-up video that shows us what happened to Sheena and her train baby. Is she still shoulder bopping on that train, along with her shoulder-bopping children, which she gave birth to on that train? Or did she shoulder bop away from his ass after catching him getting into some fisting action on that train? I see that red hanky!
