FannyPack!
It took almost 20 years, but I am finally paying homage to these musical vessels of pure poetry. At the 2004 Grammys, Luther Vandross and Richard Marx won Song of the Year for Dance With My Father. Surprisingly when they won that award, they didn’t get on stage and say that they cannot accept it, since the real Song of the Year belongs to the poetic masterpiece Cameltoe by FannyPack!
FannyPack was an electro hip-hop trio from NYC that was put together by producers Matt Goias and Fancy. FannyPack was made up of Jessibel Suthiwong (middle), Belinda Lovell (left), and Cat Hartwell (right). FannyPack was born in 2002 and a year later, they released the first of three albums, Stylistic. On Stylistic, was their biggest hit, Cameltoe. Now, since one of the Gods I worship is CoCo Austin, The Patron Saint Of Cameltoes, I cannot condone the anti-coochie bulge message of FannyPack’s musical masterpiece. But with that being said, I can appreciate elegant prose, like this:
I could see her uterus/Her pants were too tight/She musn’t own panties/There were none in sight
She walked right by/The poor woman didn’t know/She had a frontal wedgie/A Cameltoe
And this:
Girl that’s gotta hurt/Take some time and adjust/Can’t you see people staring/And making a fuss
Could not believe my eyes/Had to take a second glance
Is your crotch hungry girl?/Cause it’s eating your pants
Matt Goias and Keith Grady, the two dudes who channeled their inner Keats when writing Cameltoe, were strangely enough, not inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame for that song.
Honestly, every lyric in Cameltoe helps to weave a gorgeous stream of musical greatness. Here’s the video, which you have probably already seen because I’m sure your church played it during Sunday morning service:
Cameltoe was also in Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle and Jackass 3.5. Believe it or not, FannyPack didn’t retire right after queefing out Cameltoe since there’s no way they could top that. The JJ Fad of the early-aughts released several other singles and two more albums, including the repetitive gem, Hey Mami:
FannyPack broke up in 2007, but they will live on forever thanks to their ode to hungry, hungry coochie!
