Revlon’s Flex Shampoo + Conditioner!

And I can still smell it! Flex was a line of shampoo and conditioners from Revlon that came out sometime in the early 1970s and lasted all the way up until at least the early-aughts. The Flex I remember is the one above that came in several luxurious colors (each color was for a different kind of shampoo or conditioner). And yes, after I shampooed and conditioned with Revlon’s Flex and dried my hair, I too felt like Cindy Crawford feeling the wind gently humping her luxurious Flex-infused mane while dressed like the country club-going wife of a hedge fund manager.

The Daily Mail (the AUTHORITY on beauty products of the olden days) says that Revlon introduced Flex in 1971. Flex was pretty much your regular shampoo and conditioner, but what made it ~UnIQue~ was its musky scent, which I can only describe as what would enter your nostrils if you stuck your face in Tom Selleck’s chest bush and breathed in hard. Revlon changed Flex’s packaging throughout the years, but the multi-colored bottles are what I remember. Here’s a Flex commercial from 1984 where Flexerella (played by Jerry Hall) drops into the desert and then moisturizes the sexy into her dry locks with help from Flex!

Revlon discontinued Flex in the early-2000s, and The Daily Mail says that there are still many people who would sell their child’s organs on the black market to get a hold of a bottle of Flex. I, for one, am happy it’s not around anymore. Because if it was, I’d use it and then every time I got a whiff of my own hair, I’d think of inhaling Tom Selleck’s fur chest fumes and get the leaks.
