The La Sirena Lotería Card!
Today is Cinco de Mayo, the day when a bunch of drunk messes go on about Mexican Independence Day while others throw them side-eyes like, “It’s not Mexican Independence Day, dumb fuck! And take off that sombrero.” So to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, I’m paying tribute to a Mexican icon who was many a child’s first glimpse at bare chichis!
Lotería is a Mexican game that is similar to Bingo. But instead of basic, plain cards with numbers on ’em, you get a board with 16 glorious images on them. The caller shuffles a deck of cards with all 54 images on them, pulls one out, and hollers out or sings the name of the card. Sometimes if the caller is feeling ultra theatrical, they’ll let out a riddle, which will lead you to which card was pulled. If the caller called a card you’ve got on your board, you put a marker on it. The first player to cover four pictures on their board, either diagonally, horizontally, or vertically screams out either “¡Buenas!” or “¡Lotería!” to win the game.

But of course, you’re like, “What cards? I only see one,” because your eyes are narrowing on only one stunningly gorgeous image and that’s La Sirena! La Sirena was the mermaid, and Ariel should be happy that La Sirena didn’t live in her part of the sea. Because if she did, Prince Eric would’ve never married her ass because he’d be on a lifelong journey to smell the salt water-infused nipples and luscious mane of La Sirena! (Actually, that’d probably be good news for Ariel too because then she wouldn’t have exchanged her fin for legs and she’d still be with her family!)
Some lotería cards censor La Sirena’s mermaid nipples by either blurring them out or putting a top on her. But I’m sorry, it isn’t truly La Sirena unless her nips are making some child uncomfortable as they play lotería with their family.
