The bold turtle!
If you’re like me and you have zero confidence, that’s because the universe gave all the confidence to this little turtle in South Africa who doesn’t give one shit about a little thing called “a lion can tear a turtle’s ass up” and got right up into the mouths of two lions as they drank.
Reggi Barreto is a safari guide at the MalaMala Private Game Reserve in South Africa and he stopped to watch two lions slurping up water. Reggi probably thought he was just going to get shots of the lions quenching their thirst while throwing side-eyes at him like, “Do you mind?” But then a little turtle popped up in the watering hole and redefined the meaning of BOLD by swimming right up to the drinking tongue of one lion. The lion could’ve easily ended that turtle but the lion must have not been in the mood for a turtle amuse-bouche, and instead backed away after getting annoyed. The turtle then swam on over to another lion and tried to get on her tongue, but she also wasn’t having it. While I figured that the turtle is a kinky bitch with a lion tongue fetish and others figured that the turtle was trying to shoo those lions away from their turf, Barreto has a different theory. He believes that the turtle, which is a terrapin, was thirsty for BLOOD, zebra blood, specifically. via HuffPo:
“It was an incredibly rare sighting for me to film,” Barreto wrote. “Watching the terrapin approach the lions that had blood on their chins from the zebra. It seems as though the terrapin was actually more interested in getting some of that blood as opposed to ‘chasing the lions away.’”

Honestly, those lions are rude as hell. They show up uninvited to that turtle’s house without a gift, drink that turtle’s water, and then back up when the turtle wants some of their zebra blood? Totally rude. Don’t you just hate it when a trick shows up to your house uninvited and doesn’t let you lick the zebra blood off their mouth? We feel you, turtle.
