Amanda and Thomas Evans, the beer Santas of Southwest Florida!
Okay, now this isn’t a perfect St. Patrick’s Hot Slut of the Day, but it does involve beer – I’ll stop there, I’ve convinced myself that it is a perfect St. Patrick’s Hot Slut of the Day for the simple fact that it involves beer! And even better than beer is FREE beer, which is what Amanda and Thomas Evans of Cape Coral, FL offered up to try to make new friends. That’ll do it!
When I move into a new neighborhood, I keep my head down and pray that none of my neighbors try to talk to or get friendly with me, because my already-mashed-down brain will completely collapse if I try to say more words than “hi” to a stranger. But Amanda and Thomas Evans are not me (“And thank ALL the Gods for that!” – Amanda and Thomas Evans). They tell ABC7News that they moved to Cape Coral at the beginning of the pandemic, and knew they couldn’t get friendly with their neighbors by throwing dinner parties or bringing over cookies. So they decided to throw a meet-and-greet in their driveway and thought, “How will we lure a Floridian onto our driveway for small talk? I know, we’ll offer them gators and METH!” No, they offered their neighbors free beer by putting up flyers in their neighborhood that read:
Hi, we’re new to the neighborhood and would like to meet our lovely neighbors. We will be in our driveway with drinks, ready to meet any neighbors who would like to stop by. We can’t wait to meet you.
They all put up a FREE BEER sign in their driveway. It worked! Like a me to a dick, every neighbor swooped in to grab a free beer and meet Amanda and Thomas Evans. Free beer got them friends! I’d try it if I wanted to make friends with my neighbors, but they’d walk up to my driveway, see a cooler full of nothing and a drunk me slumped in my lawnchair after drinking all the beer, and they’d stomp away all mad-like. I know, so rude of them!
