NewsChannel5 of Nashville, TN says that Lulu’s human, Bill Dorris, died late last year at the age of 84. Bill was a very successful business man with lots of investments and real estate holdings, so he was rich. And in his will, he made sure that his precious Lulu would be cared for and then some after his death. Bill left 8-year-old Lulu to be cared for by Martha Burton who took care of the dog every time Bill went out of town for business, which was often. via NewsChannel5:
The will reads: “$5,000,000 will be transferred to a trust to be formed upon my death for the care of my border collie Lulu.”
“I don’t really know what to think about it to tell you the truth. He just really loved the dog,” Burton said.
The will specifies: “This trust is to provide for all the needs of Lulu. The dog will remain in possession of Martha Burton.”
The estate is currently in probate and it’s not exactly clear how much it’s worth.
But well, even though Lulu is a five-time millionaire, that doesn’t mean she gets to blow it all on Black Label Snausages and Cartier butthole charms. The trust will be handled by a conservator who will reimburse Martha Burton for “reasonable monthly expenses” spent to care for Lulu. It’s not known what will happen to the rest of the money once Lulu joins Bill in heaven.
