The Bear-Escpaing Skier!
I now have another reason for why I never ever want to ski again. My go-to excuse is usually that I really don’t want to break my leg and spirit from falling on the bunny slope and getting laughed at by some dumbass brats! My deductible is also too high for that. My new reason is that I really don’t want to be chased down by a bear. I mean, I’m all for a bear riding my ass but not an actual bear!
ABC News says that at the Predeal mountain resort in Romania, where there’s reportedly been plenty of bear sightings, several skiers watched with WTF eyes as a bear ran down a hill while chasing a skier. Some people tried to distract the skier-chasing bear by whistling at ’em. But as the bear documentary Yogi Bear taught me, you gotta distract a bear by throwing a pic-a-nick basket at them!
Several videos have come out of the chase and here’s one which looks like The Revenant starring James Bond instead of Leonardo DiCaprio:

While others tried to help the skier out by distracting the bear, the skier actually had this. Dude used the pic-a-nick basket trick I learned from the Yogi Bear documentary. Sort of. He dropped his bag and the bear fell for the bait, going for the bag instead of him. Here’s a clip of that moment from Obiectiv 3:
A rep for the police station in Brasov slow-clapped for that skier’s genius move and said that they’re planning to relocate the bear:
“The skier did the right thing,” Ion Zaharia, a police spokesperson in Brasov, Romania, told ABC News. “The bear was distracted by things inside his backpack. We are considering to relocate the bear, who should be hibernating now, anyway, but in recent years, we have more bears confronting skiers in the winter.”
Hopefully, there were some delicious snacks in that bag, or else that skier needs to sleep with both eyes open because that bear is coming for him! But seriously, maybe the bear wasn’t trying to attack the skier. Maybe some toilet paper got stuck to the skier’s pants while he was taking a shit and he didn’t notice it so that bear was trying to help him out by chasing him down to tell him. I mean, even bears know how embarrassing that shit is.
