Samsung’s wine-pouring, dishwasher-loading robot!
Because I think that the future looks like The Jetsons, I figured that when technologically finally got around to creating a full-on housekeeper robot, it’d be witty, wear a half glove on its head like a hat, and be called Rosey. But Samsung’s housekeeper robot looks nothing like Rosey. It looks more like a really clunky air humidifier on top of a Roomba. But you know what? The bitch can pour a glass of wine, so SOLD!
The Verge says that earlier this week, Samsung announced during their CES press conference that they’re working on a robot called Bot Handy, which sounds like a handjob you get from a bottom. Can Bot Handy do that?! Sebastian Seung, president of Samsung Research, said that Bot Handy is an extension of you and your house. It uses its camera to detect objects and can use its robot hands to pick objects up, so it can pour stuff, bring you stuff, put away laundry, and load the dishwasher. The Verge described it like this:
In its current form, Bot Handy is a tall, thin, black-and-white robot with two large digital eyes that change expressions as it moves around. The robot has a single arm that can pivot at three points — essentially a shoulder, elbow, and wrist — with a clamp-like hand at the end of it. There are cameras mounted on top of the robot’s body and hand for recognizing objects. The robot can move around the room on what appears to be a rolling base, swivel from side to side, and raise itself up to reach higher objects.
Samsung says the robot will be able to assess the material that different objects are made of so that it’ll grab them with the right amount of force. It’s also supposed to be able to handle objects of varying sizes, weights, and shapes.

Okay, but can it dance?
There’s no word on when or if Bot Handy will be available and how much it’ll be. SPOILER ALERT, its price will be: NoneUsWillBeAbleToFuckingAffordIt.
So let’s see, if Bot Handy can pick stuff up and drop stuff that means it can pick up poison, drop it in my wine, hand me the wine, go outside, pick up a shovel, use the shovel to pick up dirt until a grave is dug, go back inside, pick up my dead body, go back outside, drop it in the grave, pick up the shovel, and use the shovel to pick up and drop dirt on me until I’m totally buried. Hmm… but on the other hand, it can pour me a glass of wine and pouring wine is so hard!
