Little dogs have the reputation of being mass nerve killers because their yapping has the power to turn even nerves of steel into dust, but sometimes a little dog’s ear-melting barks can SAVE LIVES. Case in point: Winston saved the life of his best friend, Mijo, by attacking a mountain lion with a wave of verbal punches. Yes, a mountain lion’s mouth is deadly but it’s sometimes no match for the high-pitched barking of a pissed off little dog.
9News says that two weekends ago, Winston and Mijo’s humans, Sarah Moore and Lindsay Golden, who all live in Evergreen, CO, went to Sarah’s mother’s house to watch Joe Biden’s victory speech. Someone accidentally left a door open (cut to that someone filling to the top with ice-cold GUILT) and both Winston and Mijo got out. And not long after those sneaky bitches snuck out, a young mountain lion saw its dinner and attacked Mijo. When the mountain lion got a hold of Mijo with its mouth, Winston flipped his NOT THE ONE switch on and immediately went to defend his brother by running at the mountain lion while barking. I’m guessing that Winston barked, “Bitch, if you don’t put him down, I’m going to gather up all my little dog friends and we’re going to come to your house and bark until you and your family’s ears fall off.” The mountain lion must know the language of dog because it dropped Mijo and ran off as Winston looked at it like, “That’s what I thought, motherfucker!”
Sadly, 15-year-old Mijo didn’t get away injury-free. Mijo is now permanently winking at you because he lost an eye and he’s got neurological issues, but he’s still here, dammit!
Sarah and Lindsay have set up a GoFundMe to pay for Mijo’s ongoing treatment.
In that clip, Mijo busts out into a beautiful howl, and he’s probably serenading his hero Winston with a haunting and touching version of Mariah Carey’s Hero while also letting that mountain lion know that it didn’t get rid of his ass and it’s thanks to Hero Winston!
