The World’s Fastest Trash Can!

The title of “World’s Fastest Trash Can” may make you say, “I didn’t know R. Kelly was a world-record-breaking runner?!” But this is an actual trash can that was turned into something straight out of the sequel of Ford v. Ferrari called Ford v. Rubbermaid.

On September 27, two Guinness World Records were made at Elvington airfield in northeast England. One record was broken by an electric wheelchair that zoom-zoomed to 67 mph (the previous record was 62 mph). And an engineer named Andy Jennings broke the other record when he turned a garbage bin into the star of a no-budget reboot of The Fast and the Furious (The Fast and the Foulest?) and yes, it’s better than the original. Andy and his trash can race car took the record with 43mph. via UPI:

Andy Jennings, 28, a design engineer, showed up with one of the more unusual vehicles of the event — a motorized wheelie bin trash can.

Jennings said Guinness World Records set a goal of 30 mph to take the record for the world’s fastest trash can, a goal he exceeded by reaching 43 mph in his unusual vehicle, which was constructed with a motorcycle engine and parts from a mobility scooter.

I haven’t seen trash move that fast since I looked in the mirror while taking a spin class. But you know, this fiery pile of trash years it the perfect year for a trash can to take a speeding record. 2020 IS the year of trash!
