Matt Smith Was Papped With A Woman Who Wasn’t Emilia Clarke

I have not been seeing many people in quarantine (I’m good with my family-sized bag of chips and couch, thank you), and I certainly haven’t been going on dates. But I’m not an actor that is also social and/or horny. Like British actor Matt Smith, who has been photographed outside at night several times, looking happy and maskless while standing close to a woman. In terms of current celebrity rumor communications, standing close to another person without a mask pretty much means = DATING. Matt Smith’s recent maskless late-night activities involved actress Emilia Clarke, but that’s not who he was seen with this week.

Last week, when The Daily Mail reported on Matt and Emilia’s late-night meet-up in London, they believed that there were enough clues to indicate something romantic was going on. If those pictures were filled with clues, these pictures are the metaphorical equivalent to dropping a giant folder marked “evidence”Β on the front. The Daily Mail got some pictures of Matt Smith and director Sophie Russell earlier this week in London, and it looks pretty date-y. There’s hair-stroking! There’s close-talking! There’s even a romantic-ish ride in a motorized rickshaw! The only thing absent is a face mask. I know Matt played a fake Doctor on TV, but can a real doctor tap him on the shoulder and let him know we’re still in the middle of a global health pandemic?

The Daily Mail says that Matt and Sophie were seen together after a night out at a club in London, and that after their rickshaw ride, they took a black cab together. The Daily Mail also pointed out that Matt’s date with Sophie happened right around the same time UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he was implementing new COVID restrictions, and warned that “significant greater restrictions” could be coming if the numbers really start climbing again.

I hope for Matt’s sake that one of those restrictions isn’t to limit Matt Smith to one maskless public club date every two weeks. But if that happens, Matt should look on the bright side. He can still go out and meet ladies, he just needs to be safer about it. And I know style is important to him, so my suggestion is that he asks his agent to call up the Primetime Emmy people and ask if Matt can buy one of those stylish hazmat tuxedos. At the very least, it will be 100% more date appropriate than those sloppy laundry day basketball shorts.
