Hot Slut Of The Day!

Nomi Malone’s legendary Ver-sayce dress from Showgirls!

Every highly-esteemed film historian knows that September 22, 1995, is really the day that cinema was born because it was the day that the greatest movie ever created, Showgirls, wowed the minds of TRILLIONS and forced every filmmaker to step it all the way up and try to create something as 1/1000th magnificent as Showgirls (SPOILER ALERT: No filmmaker has done so yet). Nearly every character, prop, nipple tassel, plate of brown rice and vegetables, dance move, and dolphin fountain deserves to be HSOTD, but in honor of this international holiday, I’m paying tribute to the extremely pivotal character of Nomi’s Ver-sayce dress!

In 1994, Elizabeth Hurley stole all the spotlights from the premiere of her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant’s movie, Four Weddings and a Funeral, when she wore a gold safety pin Versace dress. Wikipedia says that it was referred to as: THAT DRESS. But just one year later, it was referred to as WHAT DRESS? when Nomi Malone really put Versace on the map and let Italians know that they’ve been saying “Versace” wrong for all those years!

When Nomi and Molly are strolling through the Forum Shops at Ceasar’s Palace, Nomi gets the clit throbs over the real THAT DRESS. Molly tries to convince Nomi not to buy it since she can make it, but Nomi treats herself and wears it to fill out paperwork at the entertainment offices of the Stardust. Nomi stuns them all (yes, that’s the reason for the stiff acting) and teaches them the correct way to say Versace!

I couldn’t find out what exactly happened to that iconic Versayce dress. Six years ago, someone put up a YouTube video selling the Showgirls Versace dress, but I’m not sure if it’s the one that touched the body of the Doggy Chow-eating goddess that is Nomi Malone, or not. The dress in the video is not protected by bulletproof glass and six bodyguards, so I’m guessing it’s not. So as for where it’s at now, I’m guessing it’s in the archives at the MET’s Costume Institute, and every year, the powers-that-be look at it while saying, “Hmmm, should we finally do Showgirls as the MET Gala theme this year? No, we better not, because none of the lessers we invite every year can pull off the timeless elegance of that theme.”
