The world continues to be a shit-oozing ass scab, but there are drops of sweetness here and there, including Valencia, Spain where these two gayelle penguins are giving us the adorable Pixar reboot of The Kids Are Alright by raising a chick together. And no, Electra and Viola aren’t going to pull the shit that Julianne Moore’s character pulled by doing the sperm donor.
Electra and Viola are following in the gay penguin parent flippersteps of gay penguin power couple, Sphen and Magic, and Rocky and Marama, by taking care of a chick together. NBC News says that Electra and Viola, who live at Oceanogràfic València, are one of three gentoo penguin couples to become parents during the current breeding season. The caregivers of the penguins noticed that Electra and Viola were making moves to reproduce, like making a nest out of pebbles. So the aquarium decided to give them a fertile egg to raise.
Oceanogràfic València delivered the happy-wrapped-in-more-happy news on Facebook, and they didn’t say when Electra and Viola got together, but since they’re lesbians, probably 25 minutes before they built that nest. But seriously, inject these sweet pictures into my cold, unfeeling veins:
