Makeup Retailer Morphe Has Dropped Jeffree Star

Looks like another tearful, 48-minute “This is MY truth” video is in the works––probably being carefully edited as we speak and soon to be uploaded to the web where it will surely be picked apart by the totally normal and definitely not questionable YouTube beauty community (and holy shit, after witnessing a year’s worth of behavior from some of its most prominent leaders, I am using the term “beauty” very loosely). Jeffree Star, the discount Halloween store Saw puppet who sold whatever soul he had left to become a multi-millionaire beauty YouTuber, is getting his ass handed to him for the 900th time.
I mean, I vaguely remember Jeffree from the MySpace years when his biggest ambition was putting together music about how cool it is to be anorexic and the glamorousness of taking pills and stealing people’s boyfriends. But he later ~evolved~ into a beauty YouTuber with his own line of makeup that many, many people buy for some reason.
According to The Verge, makeup retailer, Morphe, is severing ties with the “influencer” for his YEARS of problematic shit, which includes alleged toxic, manipulative behavior towards just about everybody in his circle, not to mention NUMEROUS documented instances of racist shit. What apparently did it for Morphe was that other beauty YouTuber Tati Westbrook EXPOSING Jeffree and Shane Dawson for manipulating her into turning on James Charles. Yes, all of those people are adults.
Today we’ve made the decision to cease all commercial activity related to Jeffree Star and affiliated products. We expect this to conclude within the coming weeks. As we look to the future, we will continue to share updates on what lies ahead for the Morphe brand.

Jeffree’s shit is still on Morphe shelves but will be phased out eventually. No date has been given.
Jeffree, who, like his makeup, looks cheap and full of toxins, has not directly responded to the news, but his Jeffree Star Cosmetics Instagram page (which, I guess, is probably his response until THE BIG response shows up on YouTube) posted the following message yesterday:
On top of that, Tati claimed that Jeffree was a co-owner in Morphe and did it to try to DESTROY James Charles and get James out of the way before Jeffree and Shane Dawson released their joint makeup collection for Morphe. Morphe denied to Nylon that he’s a co-owner.
And Twitter thinks that Jeffree might have money problems (he’s reportedly worth $200 million) because his Hidden Hills, CA mansion is on the market for nearly $15 million.
Admittedly, I don’t know much about makeup––other than the fact that there are LOTS of options out there. So if you’ve got some money to spend on a palette and brush, and you choose to give your hard-earned coin (or, more realistically, the allowance you get from your parents becuase, if neon yellow eyeshadow is your thing, you’re probably 12) to Jeffree Star…girl, that’s on you.
Honestly, can we flush the entire YouTube beauty community, and all its noted experts, by 2021? If you are desperate for makeup tutorials, there will always be this gem from beauty icon, Tammy Faye Bakker. If anyone knows subtle glamor, it’s Miss Tammy.
