Open Post: Hosted By A Package-Thieving Pooch

Dogs––they’re just like us. They drool, they whine, they scratch. And sometimes, they commit petty misdemeanors just because they can. Residents of McAllen, Texas were not surprised to find a stray pup wandering the neighborhood, scoping out the scene and looking generally sketchy as fuck. I say “not surprised” because when it comes to being a public menace, this bitch is a repeat offender.

People reports that Abby Garza, 10, and her family had been expecting a package. And once that package was dropped off at their front door, it was a mere 30 seconds later that this habitual canine offender stomped up to the porch, had a sniff, and then made off with the goods. All the while leaving the stupid humans to scratch their heads.

“It was kind of funny because nobody would ever expect a dog to steal a package,” Abby Garza, 10, told local television station, KRGV, of the neighborhood stray.

The Garzas, thinking they were dealing with a two-legged package-pinching person, reviewed their doorbell camera footage only to discover who was really in charge. But here’s the twist. This dog watched the mailperson deliver the package, waited for them to drive off, and THEN swooped in. That’s a new level of petty.

“The first package was my mom’s clothes, the second was my easter basket, he was chewing all over it,” Garza said.

Now, happily, the whole neighborhood has this dog’s number, so nearby residents will return packages to their rightful owners if they come across a box dropped by the dog in the wrong spot. Good to know we’ve got some good samaritans in this age of thievery. Sleep well tonight, McAllen, Texas. And if you see something, say something.
