Augie and Pepe!
Meet Augie, a pug who has been blind most of his life, and Pepe, a Chihuahua who is Augie’s best friend, confidante, and seeing-eye dog. And in possibly related news, Pixar just shut down their whole damn operation, because they know they’ll never ever be able to come up with a story as awww-worthy as this one.
KDVR says that 12-year-old Augie and Pepe were brought into Colorado Pug Rescue, because their human has a terminal illness and can no longer take care of them. Colorado Pug Rescue is usually a pugs-only place, but since Augie and Pepe are a package deal, they gladly opened their door to Pepe the Chihuahua too. Cyndi Trimber is currently their foster mom, and both are living with her in Greeley, CO. Cyndi says that they’re as stuck together as me and pretty much any dick pic. They sleep together. They eat together. And Pepe helps Augie get around.
Cyndi says that when they got Augie, he was in a bad way. His eyeballs needed to be removed and so did 14 of his teeth. And that cost them $3,100, which is a bill that the Colorado Pug Rescue really can’t afford since they have 100 other pugs to take care of. So they set up a fund, which you can donate to here.
Here’s their story:
Augie and Pepe are also looking for a forever home. You know, besides them being in Colorado, I don’t think I could take them. Because every time I’d look at little Pepe guiding little Augie, my soul would vomit up a river of sweet feelings, and honestly, I prefer to be dead inside. With that being said, if I was going to be buried, I’d want that picture of them taped to the inside of my coffin.
