Jason”Gummi Bear” Davis Has Died At Age 35
TMZ tells us that Jason “Gummi Bear” Davis, brother of Brandon “Greasy Bear” Davis, died yesterday at the age of 35 in Los Angeles.
Jason’s mom Nancy Rickel released this statement about his death:
“I am so heartbroken to share the saddest news of my life that my son Jason Davis passed away this morning in Los Angeles.
“Jason had a true heart of gold with such a zest for life. He was such a caring soul to everybody who ever knew him. He loved his friends and his family above all else. We ask for privacy as we take time to grieve this most devastating loss.”
I know Jason best from back in the early-aughts when he and Greasy Bear hung out with Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan (Or “Firecrotch” as Greasy Bear called her) and that whole crew of rich ~socialites~.
But before that, Jason had a bit of an acting career. Something I did not know! As a child actor, he was in Rush Hour and Beverly Hills Ninja. And he voiced the character of Mikey Blumberg and Phil the Woodchuck Scout on the cartoon Recess. Recess ran from 1997 to 2001. He was also in episodes of Roseanne and 7th Heaven, and The Hollywood Reporter says he was currently working on a TV show titled The Two Jasons.
Jason dealt with drug addiction , and appeared on season 4 of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2010. Jason later co-founded a charity called Cure Addiction Now, which “helps fund research for people suffering from substance abuse.”
As of now, the cause of death is unknown. He’s survived by his parents and four siblings. Jason was the grandson of Marvin Davis, who owned 20th Century Fox. Aaron Spelling loosely based the Carringtons in Dynasty on Marvin Davis’ family.
Rest In Peace, Gummi Bear.
