Herman and Lundy!
Don’t let that picture fool you. It may look like Herman the pigeon is viciously suffocating Lundy the Chihuahua. Or possibly engaging in some crush fetish kinkiness. But Herman and Lundy are apparently just friends and the only thing Herman is guilty of is crushing the AWWWs out of my heart with his love for Lundy. Although, Lundy does look like he’s screaming “¡Ayúdame!” with his eyes while trying to remember his safe word.
People says that Herman and Lundy are best friends who currently live together at The Mia Foundation in Rochester, NY. The Mia Foundation is a non-profit that helps animals born with birth defects. Herman was brought in several years ago when he was found motionless at a car dealership. Herman eventually got strong enough to get around but he’ll never be able to fly, and vets believe it’s because of either a brain injury or he caught the West Nile Virus. So Herman will live out the rest of his days at The Mia Foundation, and now he’s got a friend.
8-week-old Lundy came from a breeder in South Carolina 4 weeks ago. Lundy had problems walking, and the breeder didn’t know how to take care of him (and probably couldn’t sell him). So The Mia Foundation took him in. They believe Lundy has spinal cord damage. If that’s the case, they will train him to get around on wheels. They are hoping to eventually find him a forever home.
In the meantime, Lundy is starring in a real-life Pixar movie by cuddling up to Herman. Sue Rogers, the founder of The Mia Foundation, says that abuelita pube bush is Herman’s bed. And after Lundy got there, Sue decided to put him in the bed with Herman to see what would happen. Sue watched to make sure a pigeon vs. Chihuahua tussle didn’t go down. But the only thing that happened was the birth of a FWENDSHIP!
But there was no need for concern, the two pets quickly gravitated towards each and started cuddling.
“The way they interacted was so cute,” Rogers said, adding that she isn’t certain if Herman is a he after seeing him display some maternal behaviors when he was alongside Lundy.

Those pictures are almost AWWW-worthy and soothing enough for me to not calm my always-frazzled nerves with a toke today. I said almost. And here’s hoping that Lundy finds a loving home, and that loving home also takes in his BFF Herman. This year has been shitty enough and we don’t need to hear about the breaking up of these adorable two BFFs. Unless Herman really is trying to suffocate Lundy in that pic. If that’s the case, here’s hoping Lundy’s humans get a restraining order.
