Open Post: Hosted By Elliot Reuniting With E.T. To Sell Cable

November 30, 2019 / Posted by:

Is this delightful or just a kick in the balls from abject capitalism? Comcast has a new ad called “A Holiday Reunion” and it features actor Henry Thomas reprising his “Elliot” role to reunite with gnarly alien E.T. thirty-seven years later. Yes, E.T. The Extraterrestrial is almost FORTY YEARS OLD. *fashions noose*

In the lengthy, four-minute-long ad (via People), E.T. comes back from space to hang out with Elliot’s family and learn all about Comcast and Xfinity and all the neat shit you can do with a cable/internet bundle. Ugh, this is kind of ugly and not cute-ugly like the alien.

Please note that Henry Thomas recently got pinched for a DUI, so this could be for lawyer money. That’s understandable. Comcast couldn’t have been paying that much, though, because Drew Barrymore isn’t lisping her way into her niece and nephew’s lives to hang out with E.T. at Christmas and enjoy the On Demand programming.

Ugh, why do they have to kill our childhoods like this? They’ve even got the theme music and E.T. floats the kid’s bike. If you didn’t hate Christmas marketing already…
