Hot Slut Of The Day!
Yak Bak!
Sure, nowadays you can use one of a million apps to record your voice and mess with it, like making it deeper and British-ey, so you can sound like Prince Hot Ginge and record yourself saying, “Can’t wait to flame up that boy hole, my pig slut.” Wait, what?! Anyway, sure, those kind of apps are great, or whatever, but teens and kids today will never know what it feels like when their brain burps up a million WOWs from hearing their voice playback on a toy that looked like what you’d get if a pager bareback boned a 99 Cent Store tape recorder.
Yak Bak, which to me sounds like a quirky name for a fart, was a toy made by Yes! Gear and it landed in stores during the 1994 holiday season. I have a feeling that December 1994 and January 1995 were very busy for mental hospitals, because parents checked themselves in after losing their minds from their kids torturing them with Yak Bak. Because Yak Bak encouraged brats to yakety yak, DO talk back. Yak Bak was basic. It had one speaker, two buttons, and a light. You’d hit the SAY button to record a little six-second ditty, and you’d hit the PLAY button to play it back. The light went on to let you know you were in the middle of a recording. I would say that this Yak Bak commercial from 1995 could be used as a torture device, but that’s way too cruel. This is what the definition of annoying looks like while high on meth.

Yes! Gear (more like No! Gear after watching that commercial) put out several different Yak Baks up until the early-aughts. One played your voice backwards. Another changed the pitch of your voice or warped it.
I’m not sure why any parent bought their kid a Yak Bak. Maybe they hated their kid and knew that if they told a judge, “My kid won’t stop playing with their Yak Bak,” the judge would force emancipation and they’d be free of the brat. But then again, the judge would also institutionalize the parent for buying a damn Yak Bak to begin with.
