Cuba Gooding Jr. Hit With New Sexual Assault Charges
Back in June, Cuba Gooding Jr. was charged for allegedly groping a woman in a nightclub. He ended up turning himself in to police and eventually pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against him. The video evidence was sort of here and there but he had a narrative and he was sticking to it. Cuba then had his legal team do some mental health-shaming, and brought up some blog posts of his accuser’s which they said challenged her mental state–asking the courts to throw the case out. Well it was not dismissed when Cuba went into court today. In fact, much worse: he was hit with different charges for a separate event. Yikes, bitch.
TMZ says the basic cable O.J. Simpson showed up to the Manhattan courthouse today thinking he was there to deal with the sexual assault case against him. And he was right but not about which one.
Cuba allegedly groped a woman’s breast in a nightclub. Cuba says video evidence does not prove he touched her breast and she confronted him about it, and instead it shows him touching her hand and kissing it. Which is still weird, but okay. Cuba’s team attacked the woman saying she had a “warped mental state” and tried to get the case thrown out. They thought they were in court today to talk about that.
But the Manhattan D.A. sprung something else on them. They told the judge there was a different incident with Cuba and this was their basis for a new charge. When Cuba was arrested in June, the D.A. had mentioned the NYPD were investigating a separate incident but it’s not clear if this is that. So either Cuba just has tons of these things going on, or it is. But Cuba won’t even know because his arraignment for it is next week. Or maybe he knows but we don’t? Unclear. Either way, he’s got some new legal drama to deal with.
I’m sure he’s taking this very well. The last time someone accused him of grossness he was totally calm about it and not at all becoming a ranting mess in a public hotel bar. Psyche. With all these accusers, Cuba’s going to need to start looking for lawyers who are skilled in regularly defending grossness or else he’s going to be getting kicked out of a lot of bars for being angry. How about Lisa Bloom? I hear she may be looking for honest gigs?
