“Zoey 101” May Be Coming Back, But This Time With An “Edge”
TMZ reports that Jamie Lynn Spears is in talks to make a career comeback, y’all. Jamie Lynn might reprise her role as Zoey Brooks, the sort-of-quirky (not at all) basic bitch who was the star of her own show Zoey 101 about an all boys school which finally allowed girls in. I genuinely enjoyed watching it over ten years ago, for some reason which I can’t remember. But I’ve tried to watch old episodes now and hate it. Well too bad for me, because everything from my youth is destined to circle back to me except for my actual youth–and we can all prepare ourselves for a potential new Zoey 101. This time with an edge.
Zoey 101 aired on Nickelodeon for 4 seasons from 2005 to 2008. Some think it got cancelled because Jamie Lynn got pregnant at 16. Zoey may be back, and you know what, art imitates life and life imitates are because they may be giving Zoey Brooks kids!
Nickelodeon sources tell TMZ that Jamie Lynn is talking with executives about coming back, but nothing is set yet. There would be some major changes to the premise of the show.
“[It will] follow Zoey’s life in SoCal ten years later at the age of 28 — only this time, she’d have a couple of kids in the mix. Unclear if she’d have a partner or not, or if she’s still involved with her character’s longtime love interest, Chase.”
The sources say that this iteration would be: “Zoey with an edge”. Which is like… what the fuck does that look like? Is Zoey going to become the guidance counsellor of PCA and help the kids with their Adderall addictions and pregnancy scares? Is she going to fight crime on the PCA campus at night and get into John Wick-style battles? Is it Zoey 101 meets Breaking Bad–she’s the one selling the kids Adderall? Who is the audience for this series?
I’m sure most of the people from this show will be down to come back for this because who in Hollywood doesn’t like a check? And I’m gonna guess a lot of their schedules are open, since if I were to list the five main cast members I don’t think you’d recognize a single one of them. In fact, the most famous of them now is Austin Butler who can be referred to as: That Guy Who Got Cast As Elvis. Or Victoria Justice who’s more famous for being jealous of Ariana Grande than for her actual acting credits, let’s be real. So I think the other members of this cast will be excited to work again on this “edgy” Zoey 101 show. And Jamie Lynn is better at manifesting “edgy” girl energy anyway–she’s a “knives out at the Pita Pit“ type of girl.
