There Will Be At Least Two More “Mission: Impossible” Movies

Deadline is reporting that there will be at least two more movies in the Mission Impossible franchise which has been making Tom Cruise look taller than he is since 1996. This news shouldn’t shock anyone considering the last movie, Mission Impossible: Fallout earned a whopping $791.1 million worldwide and people loved it.

It seems like they’re really trying to cash all the way in, since they’re going to crank out one after the other. Variety is saying that the movies will be shot back to back to “take advantage of the popularity of the series” AKA make more money. The next movie will be out in summer 2021, and the 8th will be out in summer 2022. They’re skipping 2020 because of the all-important American Presidential election. JK it’s because they don’t want to interrupt that Top Gun: Maverick which is supposed to come out June 2020.

The writer and director of the last two movies, Christopher McQuarrie confirmed the news by tweeting about it:

Christopher has made Tom a lot of money: they worked together on The Mummy, Valkyrie, Edge of Tomorrow, Jack Reacher, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Mission Impossible: Fallout; so no shock he’s being kept around like one of Tom’s audition wives.

Personally, I’m excited about this. I love watching Tom Cruise run across glamorous locales while he saves the world from terrorist destruction. But mostly because I am so happy to see people getting regular work. Specifically the boxes Tom Cruise stands on for height. Those are the hardest working boxes in the industry! You know who won’t be happy about this? Leah Remini. But Leah, please think of the boxes!
